Liverbird

(no subject)

It was a very low-key weekend, which I will chalk up as a good thing.

Friday, I finished up my training, and despite an incipient migraine, met my old friend Allen from Austin for lunch.  He's a neat guy I met through the SCA, but we're far more sympatico as fellow gamers.  He and his wife were original members of Aaron Allston's Strike Force campaign and it was through him that I ended (briefly) GMing for Aaron and company.  But I digress.  He and his lovely lady are in Houston right now while she gets her new heart working properly, but he's hoping to find work here and make the move permanent.  Anyway, it was great hanging out and talking for a while, but I got sicker as lunch progressed.  Once in a while, I get one that the Imitrex won't knock out on the first go-around.  This was such a headache.  Fortunately, a second dose and a nap killed it, keeping Friday from being a total loss.

Yesterday consisted of getting up, deviling last week's Easter eggs, and sitting around and doing a lot of nothing until a birthday party for one of the Nephewim in the afternoon.  Unfortunately, C-Monster managed to make himself sick at the party (it was at one of those places with lots of bouncing apparati, and I think he got overheated, so we ended up cutting out early.  Which just meant I got home in plenty of time to watch the MLS kickoff double-header on Fox Soccer Channel.

This morning, I slept in until 10, waking up just in time to watch Liverpool beat Everton.  A key victory, though I wish Gerrard's shot at the end of the first half hadn't hit the post, and Torres had behaved himself at the end.  I spent a few hours cleaning my study, which had gotten rather icky, venturing forth only for a brief trip to the grocery store to grab something to heat up for dinner.

And that's about it.  Fairly relaxing, all in all.  Tomorrow's my first day back at work in over a week.  I'm a little apprehensive, but as far as I can tell from the email traffic, there's nothing too heinous waiting for me.
