(no subject)

I had an issue that required hands-on attention at the main building.  On the way back, I diverted to Borders and spent a bit of the PC repair money.  I'd gone in wanting to pick up Michael Chabon's Gentlemen of the Road, which received good recommendations from a number of folks I trust, but before I found it, I spied The Reavers, a new (and one presumes final) novel by the late George MacDonald Fraser, chronicler of Flashman and author of the greatest opening sentence in the history of English literature.  It's set in 17th century Scotland.  It looks to be a hoot.

Of course, now I have to decide how things are going to fit in the reading pile.  But that''s an organizational dilemma I can cope with today.
