It as if a wallet cried out in terror and was suddenly silenced...

So, C-Monster came in to my study after dinner wanting to play a board game.   I really didn't feel like breaking out Battleball (too annoyingly random), nor Stratego (too hard for me not to win).  And definitely not HeroClix.  Not at 7 PM, at any rate.  My eyes lit on the Star Wars minis game I picked up at Half-Price Books a couple of years ago that I'd never really looked at.  Yeah, it said for ages 12 and up, but I saw there were quick-start rules and figured we could wing anything that was too hard.

Turned out to be a pretty good time, all in all.  He shot up my Clone Troopers before Obi-Wan put the big hurt on General Grievous.  I suspect the deck is a bit stacked against the forces of evil in the intro game, but it was a good time and he lost with good grace.  Of course, this led to dragging out the starter set I bought when the game first came out and the extra minis I'd purchased for some reason.  So next time, we'll put together our own squads and see how it plays out.

Overall, the game seems a bit easier than Clix, with less stuff to keep track of.  The boy is absolutely Star Wars crazy, so this may become his new game obsession.  Given that it requires him to read and think rather than press buttons and yell at the TV, I think I'm going to encourage it.
