(no subject)

The desktop machines are now set up on the new backup battery.  Yet another step towards normal.

I went in to work today.  Our main building had power and we were seeing patients.  My job was mainly to ride herd on things and get the computers back up and running for the staff who won't return until next week.  All in all, it was a lot like Xmas:  I spent most of the day unwrapping electronics.

On the damage to the organization front, we weathered it pretty well.  From a data standpoint, things have been damned near flawless, so far.  The servers (in our locations with power) are all up and running properly, and I've only had one problem PC, and it has nothing to do with the storm.

Being at work in the aftermath of something like this is terribly reaffirming.  Doing what I do, it's easy to lose sight of the organizational mission and days like these are a great reminder.

All in all, it's been a pretty good day.  Except for Setanta going back to premium service.  Turns out it was just a promotion that coincided with the start of the Champions' League.  But I think we're going to use part of my raise to add the service.

Memery Me

Take a picture of yourself right now.
Don't change your clothes. Don't fix your hair. Just take a picture.
Post that picture with no editing. (Except maybe to get the image size down to something reasonable. Don't go posting an eight megapixel image.)
Include these instructions.
